Hundreds of qualified applicants applied for the Galvanize Scholarship – a prize awarded to exceptional individuals accepted into Galvanize’s immersive programs. After much thought and deliberation, we are pleased to announce two recipients receiving a full-tuition scholarship to our Software Engineering Immersive bootcamp.
Both recipients have shown an obvious passion for web development, demonstrated a dedication to changing their careers and provided a thoughtful articulation of financial need. We’re excited to see the amazing things Tyler Lindow and Jennifer Nummerdor will do with the skills they develop during their software engineering cohorts!
Tyler is a Filipino American from San Bruno, CA and a first generation graduate of UC San Diego. As a former science museum professional, he has designed professional development workshops and exhibit prototypes to help reduce the intimidation of technology felt by staff and young people. His goal as a professional software engineer is to create developer tools that both strengthen industry practices and help advance software literacy for young people of color.
Tyler strongly believes that it’s a software engineer’s responsibility to be a leader in developing and sharing technology with others. He is grateful for the opportunity to grow as a software engineer and share his story with others.
Jen has always been drawn to trying new things, solving problems and finding challenges. Previously, she was an elementary school teacher in Title I Schools and served as a program manager for an educational nonprofit. Jen grew up with an interest in computers and recently decided to enroll in the Hack Reactor at Galvanize Software Engineering Program.
Though originally from Michigan, Jen lived in Denver and California before moving to her current home in Phoenix. When not behind a computer screen, Jen enjoys climbing, snowboarding, running, biking and reading. She looks forward to using her new skills to positively impact the field of education and to inspire others who want to pursue a career in the technology field
Again, congratulations to these incredible individuals!
