As much as aspiring filmmakers flock to Los Angeles, and those in finance head to New York City, for decades, Silicon Valley has been the destination for those seeking jobs in Big Tech.

But that’s not the only place where software engineers can go to find exciting jobs with growth potential.

Boston, for example, has a growing tech industry. The city’s booming market segment was projected to have 8,400 open tech jobs in 2021. And in the last five years, tech job postings in Boston have grown almost 200 percent. Twelve out of every 100 jobs in the city are in tech, and the average software engineer earns about $130,000 per year.

If you have pets, you’re probably familiar with Chewy,the largest online pet food, toys, medications, and accessories store in the world. Chewy is currently hiring Staff Software Engineers. Right now, Boston’s Federal Reserve Bank is hiring a FedNow Software Engineer. The century-old institution is working on a technology that would allow banking and financial institution customers to send and receive payments 24/7 with near instant full access. The salary range is $85,000 – $146,000 per year. CarGurus’ mission is to simplify automotive buying and selling. Despite the fact that it’s still in the startup phase, CarGurus is  the most visited automotive shopping site in the country and is expanding. Currently, the company is  hiring Full Stack Consumer Software Engineer.
