2nd ANNUAL ‘TECHNOLOGY FOR GIVING & SHARING’

December 15 @ 6:15 pm - 9:00 pm

How do Austin tech companies and leaders contribute to the propserity and achievement of Austinites? Do you have an idea for a social good technology? Want to share your app/organization/idea?

Austin is, by many measures, one of the most successful cities in the country.  We have a booming economy—in large part thanks to tech, higher education and government, as well as a low unemployment rate.  We also boast a high average education level and low violent crime statistics, plus a cultural environment that includes great music, food, outdoor activities, and more. All of this makes Austin one of the most attractive places to live in the nation and places us consistently at or near the top of many ‘best of’ and ‘fastest growing’ lists.

However, this success is not shared by all Austinites and, in some cases, it exacerbates civic issues. Austin has the greatest disparity in income by location of any city in the US, and the affordability of housing is an increasing problem for a number of residents. Homelessness and unemployment do exist here, and poverty, crime, lack of access to quality healthcare, and other issues present risks to Austinites that we, as a generous, creative, technologically-savvy population, should be finding ways to address… and we are! Come learn how Austin’s tech companies—as engines and beacons of our region’s economic success—are also giving back to the community. They are developing new technologies for giving assistance, for sharing resources–for helping those less fortunate. They are also developing programs for their employees to help make Austin better, and aid those currently less fortunate. Austin cares, and Austin innovates—come learn how this is making Austin an even better place for more people.

Speakers will include leaders from the Austin technology community (to be announced soon).
Apply below to showcase your technology for giving and sharing.

**Special note to attendees: The Austin Forum *never* charges for attendance in order to be accessible to everyone regardless of income. As we enter the holidays, we ask that you please bring a new toy for the Blue Santa toy drive and/or make a donation to one of our participating charities (to be announced soon) or a charity of your choice.
