After eight months and over 50 events, Pitchers & Pitches had a total of 194 competing companies pitch their businesses to 49 participating funds and 2500 attendees across five Galvanize campuses. The final showdown took place at Galvanize San Francisco on April 14 where ten finalists pitched for the grand prize — a 1-year Galvanize membership for up to six teammates.
The finalists, were flown to San Francisco, immersed in two full days of growth-focused entrepreneur programming, working with top mentors representing Yelp, Square, 500 Startups, and a panel investors from seed stage to series C/D. Topics ranged from community-building and growth, to pitch practice and investment fundamentals.
When it was over, Switch Automation, a leading provider of smart building, analytics and automation solutions for buildings, captured the Grand Prize while Givella, a platform for giving to your favorite non-profit or school, won Honorable Mention.
“Pitchers and Pitches is a national event created and produced by Galvanize,” said Michael Seiler, Galvanize Director of National Events. “The event is an opportunity for our startup members, and the larger entrepreneurial community to come together in an informal setting to practice their pitch, and build their network. We are thrilled with the success of our first year and are revving up to produce the next round of local, regional, and national events.”
